Astara advances on its Net Zero roadmap by 2045 with a comprehensive strategy to accelerate the transition towards sustainable mobility

  • The company sets new targets aligned with science: Net Zero by 2045 (Scopes 1, 2, and 3) with a short term target (2035)  of  42% Absolut reduction in scope 1 and 2, and a 50% intensity reduction in scope 3, supported by a decarbonization plan that covers both its own operations and its value chain.
  • In 2024, Astara reduced 18% its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its operations (Scopes 1 and 2) compared to 2023, down to 6,628 tCO₂e, thanks to fleet electrification and the use of renewable energy. 62% of its corporate fleet is now electric (BEV + PHEV), and 80% of the energy consumed at its facilities comes from renewable sources.
  • Astara doubled its average annual training hours per employee (33.4 hours, +114% vs. 2023) and earned Double Gold at the 2025 ICE Awards for its sustainable cultural transformation.

Madrid, 17th of September, 2025 – In 2024, Astara consolidated its roadmap towards achieving full decarbonization by 2045, marking a pivotal year in its sustainable transformation and reinforcing its role as a preferred partner by leading manufacturers in the transition to clean mobility. Furthermore, its 2024 Sustainability Report, highlights the company’s ESG achievements and reaffirms its commitment to a decarbonized, people-centered business model.

Sustainable Transformation with Global Impact

The company has built its strategy on three key pillars: electrification and clean mobility, efficient and sustainable operations, and a people-centric corporate culture. In 2024, it achieved:

  • Reduced by 18% its operational emissions (Scopes 1 and 2): 6,628 tCO₂e.
  • Electrified 62% of its corporate fleet (up from 30% in 2023).
  • Achieved 80% renewable energy use in its facilities.
  • Measured Scope 3 value chain emissions for the first time, which accounted for 99% of its carbon footprint — with vehicle use representing 72% and manufacturing 24%.
  • Completed a climate risk assessment of operational sites, resulting in a low-risk profile.
  • Advanced gender diversity: women now represent 40% of new hires in Corporate, People, Finance, and Legal, with Peru and Chile nearing gender parity.

Electric Mobility, Data, and Partnerships as Drivers of Change

In 2024, Astara reinforced its role as a global catalyst for electric mobility with tangible results:

  • Sold nearly 20,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs), representing about 10% of total sales.
  • Expanded its Astara Move subscription service to Portugal and Switzerland, growing its fleet by 59% to 2,398 vehicles.
  • Installed 91 proprietary charging points and maintained partnerships with key public charging providers such as Eneco eMobility (Belgium) and Copec Voltex (Chile), delivering 1.2 million kWh in 2024.

A People-Centered Culture

Astara continues to strengthen its corporate culture, focusing on talent development and sustainability. In 2024, it advanced in process digitization and standardization, implementing a leading global people management system to amplify impact across teams and the business.

The company has doubled the average annual training per employee, reaching 33.4 hours (+114% vs. 2023). With 79% of the workforce being actively engaged in LinkedIn Learning, which has led Astara to be recognized as a "High Performer" on this platform. In addition, its commitment to cultural transformation, aligned with sustainability, has been awarded Double Gold at the ICE Awards 2025, thanks to the impact of the global Astara Mobility Challenge.

Astara has also advanced in its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals, with women representing over 40% of new hires in key corporate areas. The company is on track to meet its target of 33% female representation by 2027 and is close to gender parity in Peru and Chile.

Strong Governance and Long-Term Vision

In 2024, Astara completed its first double materiality assessment, identifying 49 impacts, risks, and opportunities, and setting 11 strategic ESG priorities. Moreover, its value chain operates under a Supplier Code of Ethics to ensure consistent responsible business standards.

Internally, 74% of employees completed the business ethics test, and there were no confirmed cases of corruption or human rights violations during the year.

Positive Social Impact in Latin America and Real Diversity

Astara continues to consolidate its positive impact through a diverse organization, made up of nearly 3,000 employees of 52 nationalities, and its firm commitment towards social investment. 

In 2024, it carried out multiple social initiatives; most of them in Latin America. Including programs such as Vision of Change in Argentina, an initiative that traveled 4,800 kilometers to offer free eye care to people in vulnerable situations. It also promoted labor inclusion of people with disabilities in Chile. 

Furthermore, for Astara, positive social impact is built through strategic alliances with manufacturers, local partners and communities. In 2024, with a pioneering and multi-stakeholder approach, the company launched the Nashira Project in Colombia that promoted a circle economy based on giving a second live to batteries to the benefit of local communities led by women.  true example of collaborative innovation that promotes circularity and female empowerment in vulnerable environments.

Astara enters 2025 determined to continue leading sustainable mobility, expanding partnerships with manufacturers and operators, improving ESG performance, and delivering cleaner, more flexible, and more connected mobility solutions. As a signatory of the UN Global Compact, Astara reinforces its commitment to the 10 Principles and the 2030 Agenda through the SDGs, and as a member of the EV100 initiative, it accelerates the transition to electric mobility. With clear and ambitious goals: such as a 42% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions, and a 50% reduction in scope 3 emissions intensity by 2035, the company reinforces its Net Zero vision by 2045, anticipating regulatory requirements and aligning itself with science.

The report was prepared in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), aligned with the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and CDP. Astara’s 2024 carbon footprint (Scopes 1, 2, and 3) was externally verified by SGS.
